Jackson Falls is the waterfall for couples who want moving water in their vows without turning the day into a hike. The cascades tumble down a long granite slide beside Carter Notch Road, on the edge of Jackson, a village so postcard perfect it has a covered bridge for an entrance. Park, walk a few steps, and you are standing on smooth rock with water braiding past on every side.

Why couples choose it

The sound. Vows next to falling water feel different, private, wrapped in white noise, like the world stepped out of the room. The granite shelves give us a dozen natural stages to place a ceremony, the village puts hair and makeup, an inn, and dinner within walking distance, and the falls photograph beautifully in every season, spring melt at full roar, summer wading pools, and an October frame of maples that belongs in the foliage guide.

The honest part

On hot summer afternoons, Jackson Falls is the village swimming hole, families, dogs, teenagers on the slides. Charming, but not the backdrop for your vows. The falls belong to couples at first light and in the last hour before dinner, and midweek mornings feel entirely private for most of the year. Water levels change the picture too, after heavy rain the falls thunder, in a dry August they murmur, and we scout ahead of every date so you know exactly what you are getting.

Practical details

How we run the day

Getting ready in the village, a first look at the covered bridge if you like a little tradition, then vows on the granite with the falls behind you. Portraits work up and down the cascades, veil in the spray, and we finish with the golden field light on the outskirts of town. Champagne on the rocks, literally, and dinner a five minute stroll away.

Make it a Mount Washington Valley day

Jackson sits about fifteen minutes north of North Conway, so the falls pair beautifully with the valley’s other icons: vows at the falls in the morning, then portraits on Cathedral Ledge or along the beach at Echo Lake in the afternoon. Our North Conway elopement guide maps out the whole valley, including Diana’s Baths, another waterfall a short drive away.

Questions about Jackson Falls elopements

Can you get married at Jackson Falls?
Yes. The falls are a beloved town spot, and we confirm the current local arrangements for ceremonies as part of every booking.
Is Jackson Falls accessible for guests?
Very. It is essentially roadside, with a few steps onto smooth granite. The rock is slick when wet, so we choose the ceremony spot carefully.
When is Jackson Falls quietest?
Early mornings and the last hour before dinner, especially midweek. Hot summer afternoons turn it into the village swimming hole.
Is Jackson Falls good for a fall elopement?
Yes. October frames the cascades in maples, and it is one of the few foliage spots with almost no walk. See our fall foliage guide.
